Teachers will learn techniques to get students to produce quality responses to literature and to teach vocabulary so that it sticks. "All activities presented can be used as alternative assessments that allow students to demonstrate their comprehension and show what they know," said Feber. Feber believes that learning is not a spectator sport; student must be actively engaged in the learning process. "Active engagement makes learning more personal for the student and enables the student to take ownership in his learning," she said.
